RedLeaf Biologics, Inc. (“RedLeaf”), an agricultural technology company focused on producing high-value botanical extracts from red sorghum biomass, announced today that the Kentucky Agricultural Development Board (KADB) has approved RedLeaf for funding through the Kentucky Agricultural Development Fund(KADF) in the amount of $485K. 

“I think we are uniquely aligned with the mission of the KADB by offering Kentucky farmers the opportunity to diversify their crop portfolios with our sorghum,” said JordanWood, CEO RedLeaf Biologics. “RedLeaf has the potential to develop an entirely new agricultural value chain and benefit the farmers that have made it possible for us to get to this point.  We are incredibly grateful to the KADB and their team for giving us the opportunity to realize this potential” 

Founded in 2015, RedLeaf has worked closely with its local grower network to develop the proprietaryRedNaturalTM sorghum varietal, a non-GMO row crop that produces high-value compounds throughout the leaf biomass. 

“Receiving this support from the KADB reinforces the hard work that we’ve put in to grow this crop and produce our extract at a commercial scale,” said Parker Camp, RedLeafAgricultural Operations Manager. “We’re blessed with great growers and are excited to be building something new in our home state.”

The KADF disbursement will be used by RedLeaf to support its efforts to expand the planted acreage ofRedNaturalTM sorghum varietal across central Kentucky and continue to build the infrastructure required for large scale harvest and processing of the agricultural product.
